About LZ Financial

A focused implementation service for complicated e-commerce payouts.

Founded by finance and accounting professional Lochlin Zhao, LZ Financial is an Edmonton-based, online-only business that configures AI-assisted bookkeeping workflows for e-commerce operators. The goal is straightforward: preserve the complete sales and fee detail behind each payout, match the settlement to the bank and leave genuine exceptions visible for review.

Meet the founder

Built by a finance operator who has worked inside the problem.

Lochlin Zhao is the founder of LZ Financial and a finance and accounting professional with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta. His experience spans property accounting, full-cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, payroll administration, nonprofit finance and accounting-system implementation.

In his property-accounting work, Lochlin prepares monthly financial statements and reports across residential and commercial properties, manages accounts payable and receivable, performs bank and general-ledger reconciliations, prepares journal entries, supports budgets and forecasts, monitors operating expenses and organizes year-end audit and tax documentation. His broader finance work includes managing day-to-day financial operations, presenting reports and forecasts to a board of directors, coordinating vendors and maintaining the records behind membership and nonprofit operations.

That experience is practical as well as analytical. Lochlin has reconciled more than eight financial accounts at once, supported payroll information for more than 50 employees, regularly processed more than 100 accounts-payable and accounts-receivable items, and worked across QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage 300, ADP and advanced Excel workflows.

Bookkeeping is essential, but too much of it is repetitive, painful and disconnected from the work that actually grows a business. I created LZ Financial to combine disciplined accounting controls with AI-assisted workflows, making the routine work feel seamless so owners can focus on customers, strategy and the decisions that matter most.

What LZ Financial does

We build the workflow between the storefront, payment processor, books and bank.

The service is implementation-focused. It is designed for businesses whose Shopify, Stripe, PayPal or other e-commerce settlements no longer reconcile cleanly through ordinary bank-feed categorization.

Map the data

Document the source systems, payout currencies, sales categories, taxes, fees, refunds, disputes and accounting destinations involved.

Configure the process

Connect agreed platforms and establish categorization, clearing-account, payout and exception-review rules around the available data.

Validate the result

Trace an opening period from source reports through the processor balance, accounting records and bank settlement before go-live.

Operating principles

Automation should make the accounting trail clearer—not hide it.

Trace before automating

A broken or unexplained opening balance should not be buried under additional rules. The first complete period is validated before routine processing is relied upon.

Keep exceptions visible

Missing mappings, unusual refunds, disputes, holds and other non-routine activity should be routed for review instead of silently forced through.

Require human approval

Clients remain responsible for reviewing outputs, approving mappings and obtaining professional advice for material accounting and tax decisions.

Clear boundaries

What the service includes—and what it does not claim to replace.

Implementation and workflow support

  • Agreed platform connections and account mappings
  • Routine transaction categorization and payout logic
  • Opening-period reconciliation and exception design
  • Documentation, walkthrough and optional support
  • Standard setup price of CAD $2,500 plus applicable tax

Not audit, tax or legal advice

  • Not an audit or assurance engagement
  • Not tax preparation, tax filing or a legal opinion
  • Not a substitute for the client's accountant or adviser
  • Not full-service monthly bookkeeping unless separately agreed
  • Not a promise that third-party platforms will remain unchanged
Privacy and access

Credentials do not belong in ordinary forms or email.

Public assessment forms are limited to business contact information and a high-level description of the workflow. After a verified payment, onboarding uses an opaque, time-limited link. Clients are instructed not to submit passwords, banking credentials, card details or unnecessary personal information through the intake form or ordinary email.

Data minimization

Collect only the information needed to assess, scope and implement the agreed workflow.

Controlled onboarding

Post-payment access is bound to a verified transaction and a one-time, expiring onboarding token.

Documented responsibility

Privacy, service, refund and client-review responsibilities are published before onboarding.
